07:14:43
<dkayiwa> deepaganu: ok
07:14:46
<deepaganu> can we call the ConceptService from javascript
07:15:26
<deepaganu> i mean i have a concept selector which i am using , but i want to add the concept only if it is mapped to a source
07:15:47
<deepaganu> i am very new to jquery
07:16:30
<deepaganu> i am grouping the concepts on the fly
07:16:43
<deepaganu> and storing them in the db
07:17:14
<deepaganu> so while adding i want to check if the concept has mapping , if no i want include it in my group
07:17:39
<dkayiwa> deepaganu: use DWR from javascript
07:18:53
<deepaganu> ok
07:19:02
<dkayiwa> deepaganu: the the DWR method will call teh ConceptService
07:19:32
<deepaganu> can you give me sample in openmrs where i can look for dwr , i mean where is dwr used
07:20:31
<deepaganu> dkayiwa,
07:23:00
<deepaganu> can DWR service be used inside a function
07:29:42
<dkayiwa> deepaganu: do you mean javascript function?

09:57:39
<deepaganu> hi rafa
09:57:51
<rafa> deepaganu: hi
09:58:09
<deepaganu> i am trying to use a DWR in my JSP
09:58:16
<deepaganu> DWRConceptService
09:58:38
<deepaganu> but it does not have a method which i need
09:58:55
<deepaganu> i need the getConceptMapping method in the dwr
09:59:19
<deepaganu> so i tried including a dwr service in my module
09:59:32
<deepaganu> following this https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/DWR+in+OpenMRS
09:59:47
<deepaganu> but somehow i am not getting it
09:59:55
<deepaganu> i can use DWRConceptService
10:00:03
<deepaganu> but b=not the user defined
10:00:21
<deepaganu> i even changed the DWRConceptService by adding a methid in it
10:00:32
<deepaganu> but that doesnt seem to work
10:01:35
<deepaganu> rafa, which is the better approach changing the existing one or creating a new DWR Service
10:02:27
<rafa> deepaganu: How do you want to change DWRConceptService?
10:02:31
<rafa> deepaganu: it's in core
10:02:50
<deepaganu> i know i want to get all the mappings associated with the concept
10:02:53
<rafa> deepaganu: the page says nothing about changing a core DWR service
10:03:04
<deepaganu> public List<ConceptMap> getConceptMapping(Integer conceptId) {
10:03:04
<deepaganu> return (List<ConceptMap>) Context.getConceptService().getConcept(conceptId).getConceptMappings();
10:03:04
<deepaganu> }
10:03:21
<deepaganu> no i just added the method and build the core again
10:03:38
<deepaganu> i guess i need to make more changes somewhere
10:04:18
<rafa> deepaganu: have you modified dwr.xml?
10:04:42
<deepaganu> in the core ??
10:04:45
<rafa> deepaganu: yes
10:04:48
<deepaganu> no
10:04:50
<deepaganu> i didnt
10:04:57
<rafa> deepaganu: you need to register your method in dwr
10:05:07
<deepaganu> ok
10:05:09
<deepaganu> got it
10:05:12
<rafa> deepaganu: anyway I wouldn't modify core service
10:05:19
<deepaganu> but do you think it is wise that way
10:05:22
<rafa> deepaganu: just create your own DWR service
10:05:29
<deepaganu> or do you suggest a new DWRSERvice
10:05:31
<rafa> deepaganu: within your module
10:05:33
<deepaganu> ok
10:05:36
<deepaganu> i did that
10:05:41

<rafa> deepaganu: follow the page
10:06:59

10:07:51

<deepaganu> well in the page it does not even mention the html include

<wyclif> rfriedman, it looks strange
13:20:50
<wyclif> what are you trying to do?
13:21:23
<rfriedman> wyclif, I have this module I am building based on an existing (uninstalled) one and the first time I got it loaded it was working OK -- taking over the gutter and adding an admin page link -- but the those links were to the wrong form
13:22:18
<rfriedman> when I changed the form, I got this error, which has now survived 4 tomcat restarts and a reboot, it happens during openmrs login
13:22:47
<rfriedman> 2 reboots
13:23:17
<rfriedman> actually, before openmrs login, when I t ry to access the login page, wyclif

<wyclif> rfriedman, i have never tried to override the gutter but you must be adding a duplicate jar file of the servlet api
13:27:17
<wyclif> rfriedman, make sure your module is not bundled with the servet api
13:27:41
<wyclif> because that is already in tomcat
13:28:08
<rfriedman> would that be the jar?
13:28:11
<wyclif> rfriedman, do you see this in your error message previously initiated loading for a different type with name "javax/servlet/http/HttpServletRequest"
13:28:23
<rfriedman> yes
13:28:37
<wyclif> rfriedman, am basing my assumption on that
13:28:56
<wyclif> it means you have a jar fle containing that class
13:29:50
<rfriedman> wyclif, Eclipse couldn't find the JasperReports jar, the quick fix put it into the project, I've tried to delete it in Eclipse but can't

*** orien has quit IRC

<wyclif> can you open up that jar file and see if it contains that HttpServletResquest class
13:30:43
<wyclif> rfriedman, that might be the problem
13:31:34
<wyclif> rfriedman, if not change your pom settings not to include it when packagging the omod
13:31:56
<wyclif> rfriedman, by setting the scope to compile

<rfriedman> wyclif, funny, the file is now gone from the workspace and only listed in Maven dependencies

<OpenMRSBot> <http://ln-s.net/32Yk> (at maven.apache.org)
13:36:58
<wyclif> rfriedman, you want the dependency to be available at compile time for the sake of eclipse but dont want to at runtime since the servlet container already had it
13:39:12
<rfriedman> wyclif, I changed it from compile to provided
13:40:13
<wyclif> rfriedman, and did it solve the problem
13:40:17
<rfriedman> wyclif, however, I still have to get openmrs started again, is there a place i can just delete the omod from?
13:40:43
<rfriedman> or do i have to clean omrs out totally?
13:40:46
<wyclif> rfriedman, rebuild the omod and reinstall the module
13:40:57
<rfriedman> i can't reinstall the module because i can't start openmrs
13:41:17
<wyclif> rfriedman, delete the module from the application data directory
13:41:33
<wyclif> rfriedman, in the module repo
13:42:04
<rfriedman> i guess I will have to find it, I've never had to use it in ubuntu
13:42:17
<wyclif> rfriedman, what OS do you use?
13:42:39

<rfriedman> ubuntu, but don't worry, I know there's a wiki page about it

14:19:14
<rafa> wyclif: best to leave a comment on a ticket I guess
14:19:25
<bwolfe> wyclif, why are you commiting? You shoudl be submitting pull requests!
14:19:31
<wyclif> rafa, you have to edit the XformBuilder.addPatientNode and add the uuid attribute
14:19:38
<rafa> bwolfe: is that right?
14:20:16
<bwolfe> we should always use: branch/commit/pull requests/pull
14:20:42
<rafa> bwolfe: we need to have Daniel to pull it quickly otherwise he may have to resolve conflicts or we will need to rework
14:20:50
<bwolfe> it doesn't have ot be daniel that does the pull into master
14:21:03
<bwolfe> rafa, git is supposed to get rid of all conflicts ;-)
14:21:11
<rafa> bwolfe: hahaha
14:21:30
<bwolfe> you can pull/push from someone else's branch if you are worried about conflicting with them
14:22:10
<rafa> bwolfe: I don't think it's the way
14:22:17
<rafa> bwolfe: but I'll try
14:26:44
<bwolfe> rafa, wyclif: yes, daniel is in a conf during the day. he should be wrapping up about dinner time and getting online soon.
14:27:06
<bwolfe> I had him promise he'd make time to answer questions while he was down there, so if he doesn't show up I guess I'll have to fly over there and scold him. ;-)
14:27:40
<rafa> bwolfe: so the workflow you suggest is: I fork, I commit to my fork, I push, I pull from master to my fork, I make sure it was merged correctly, I push, I send pull request via github, I pull via githbut and then click committed-code on a ticket?
14:30:27
<rafa> bwolfe: sounds like a lot of steps ;)
14:30:49
<bwolfe> rafa, yes, basically. you are trying to make it sound complicated. but if you were committing directly to the main repo it would be almost the same except without hte pull request/pull
14:31:51

<pushkar> yup :-)
14:51:35
<pushkar> is it okay or should I think of another way?
14:52:36
<bwolfe> pushkar, its ok for now. FF, chrome, and opera are good enough options. just make sure you list this requirement on you rwiki page in a {note} tag so it is obvious
14:52:55
<bwolfe> pushkar, if you have time you can look into other options. but I don't think its worth it.
14:53:32
<bwolfe> pushkar, we required FF for all openmrs users for a long time due to some funky javascript in the dojo framework (not anymore) so saying that you can pick from 3 browsers for one feature in one module is a step up. :-)
